There’s a verse in the Quran that feels like a warm embrace, a shield against every storm, and a whispered assurance in moments of fear. It’s Ayatul Kursi—The Verse of the Throne. When I think of its meaning, its promise, and the immense love of God that flows through it, I can’t help but feel an ache in my heart, a bittersweet combination of longing and gratitude.
The first time I truly felt the depth of Ayatul Kursi was funnily enough one of my most stuck periods of my life. I travelled to Belfast for a weekend trip to take my mind of work and focused on taking in the peace and quiet of Northern Ireland and spent an entire day at a spa. That evening, as I went to bed, scrolling through my social media feed and a reel caught my eye where a speaker taught the audience about Ayatul Kursi. In awe, I started to research it on Google, and opened my little Quran App to check any information on this verse. Little did I know back then, but it turned into a life-changing experience.
"God! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence."
I felt the words rise like a prayer from the depths of my soul. My voice broke, tears streaming down my face as I continued. And then it struck me: The God I was calling upon—the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps—was the same God holding my mother in His care. He was the same God who had carried me through every trial, every heartache, and every loss.
That realisation didn’t make the pain disappear, but it wrapped me in a profound sense of peace. It was as if God Himself was saying, "I am here. I see you. Trust Me."
Ayatul Kursi as a Lifeline
In moments of fear, Ayatul Kursi has always been my sanctuary. There was a time I found myself lost—both literally and metaphorically. Living alone since I was moving out of my family's home, moving abroad for 6 years, travelling extensely around the world, I for sure have one or two times wandered into a rough neighbourhood as the sun began to set. I could feel the weight of danger around me, every step heavy with uncertainty.
I remembered an advice of an old lady I once met at a mosque: “Whenever you feel afraid, remember God with all His Power. You are never truly alone when God is with you.”
So I did. With each word, my heart felt steadier. Out of nowhere, kind strangers appear, offering directions and walking me safely to my destination, or animals jumping out of the corners of a yard nearby to frighten potential attackers.
Were these just coincidences and luck? Perhaps to some people. But to me, it was a reminder that God’s protection knows no bounds. Ayatul Kursi is the best thing God ever created, and tapping into this enables you to live under the ultimate divine protection. It will not take problems away, as problems are essential to our lives here on Earth, but for sure, your matters will be taken care of and your problems will be feeling lighter even though they could be heavy.
A Verse That Holds Us Together
Ayatul Kursi is more than just words; it’s a promise. For about 2 years, I recited it every morning and every night before bed. Ever since, I feel it has build an invisible fortress around me, a spiritual shield protecting me.
One day, I was heavily affected by some heavily toxic environment at work and I felt like if I stayed there, I would become the same amount of evil than my ex-colleagues and managers. In my grief, I remembered how I found out about this verse during my travels and reciting it with so much conviction. So I recited it myself, tears staining my pillow, feeling as though he was still with me, reminding me to trust God’s plan even in the face of heartbreak.
"To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth."
Those words felt heavier now, but they carried hope. To cut it short, the following day I got a dream that I should resign from this job by myself which I then did and all the events happening since then led me to receive an email to the apartment of my dreams, a property I always wanted to get my foot in.
A Love Beyond Measure
Ayatul Kursi is a love letter from God to us. It’s His way of reminding us: “I am here. I am always here.” No matter how far we drift, no matter how broken we feel, His love reaches us.
I think of the nights I’ve cried myself to sleep, the mornings I’ve woken up uncertain of how to face the day, and the countless times I’ve whispered Ayatul Kursi in desperation. Each time, it’s as if God gently lifts the burden, assuring me that I don’t have to carry it alone. Nobody dares to touch you, as if you're walking surrounded by a magnetic shield.
If you’re reading this, and you’re in pain, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Whisper these words. Let them wash over you like a soothing balm. Let them remind you of the One who loves you more than anyone ever could.
"He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills."
Sometimes, life feels unbearably heavy, and the path ahead seems unclear. But in those moments, remember: The One who knows all things is holding you in His care.
A Call to Trust
I still recite Ayatul Kursi every night before I sleep. Not out of habit, but out of love. It’s my way of handing over my worries to God, my way of saying, “I trust You.”
If you haven’t yet experienced the power of Ayatul Kursi, I encourage you to read it tonight. Not just with your lips, but with your heart. Speak it with conviction. Whisper it with hope.
And when you do, may you feel the same warmth, the same peace, and the same unshakable love that I have felt time and time again. God is with you. He always has been, and He always will be.
Even if you're not Muslim. Try it. God is here for everyone, and it simply does not matter what religion you are, we are all connected even with - and because of - so many religions. On top of that, it's also easy to access this power surge and far more exciting than any superhero series or film (and yes, I do love that genre π).
Here is a beautiful recitation if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AQR4i9ZZ0I
Try to listen to it for like a couple of days or even weeks and see what happens in your lives. I know there will be random blessings coming for you.π This divine magic works for everyone, regardless of what your faith is - if you don't believe me, try it π

God! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
